Virgile Blanc 2015

AOC Languedoc

  • 90% white Grenache, 10 % Rousanne
  • Manual harvest
  • Ageing: 12 months in tanks,
  • 18 months in oak casks
  • Cellaring: 1 to 15 years after harvest
  • Alc. percentage: 14,5% vol.
  • Serve between 11°C and 14°C

The small grapes of white Grenache have small berries, carefully selected, harvested and sorted all by hand. There is a real excitement in this wine, it's bold, yet elegant, with a light gold color. In this wine we find gingerbread aromas, subtle and fine toasty vanilla with white flowers notes, and a touch of hazelnut on the finish.

Food & Wine Pairing: Its freshness and persistence allow spiced meal pairing, as well as creamy mushrooms, poultry or well-matured cheese.

Quite deep gold colour already. Heady scents – souk spices, marzipan, and a delicate waft of hawthorn blossom. There is a real excitement in this wine, like an unwrapped parcel. It's bold, yet elegant. Seems more savoury than the 2004, definitely has more power and weight. Just a glimmer of honey and lacy elderflower edges around beautifully sculpted baked-pear fruit. Somehow slightly less wild-child, more grown-up than the 2004. That same dry refined hazelnut note on the finish. Glorious. (Tamlyn Currin for Jancisrobinson.com)

Vin de Pays de l’Hérault

Certified organic

  • 100% white grenache
  • Serve at 16°C, lightly aired
  • Cellaring : 5 to 10 years after harvest
  • Ageing : 12 months in tanks, 18 months in oak casks

A limpid, golden yellow colour. The complex and refined nose smells slightly oxydised (though this is normal) , with a mix of crystallized orange zest and almond, ending in delicate fruit caramel aromas. The mouth, which is surprisingly fresh, reveals notes of grapefruit and flowers, mainly honeysuckle, with fine tannins which bring everything together.
